AC Installation Tips
Older homes have a unique appeal to them that draws a lot of people in. However, when it comes to the hotter months, that old AC unit won’t do the trick, especially if you live in El Paso. Going through with an AC installation in a dated home can come with its challenges since the home wasn’t built for central air. Read below for a series of tips to think about before going through with a new AC installation.
-
Assess Existing Infrastructure- Evaluate the current AC system, the ductwork, if there is any, insulation, and the overall layout of your house.
-
Choose the Right System- Depending on the needs and restraints of your home, it will depend on what kind of AC installation you should get. Things such as your budget, space, and the home’s cooling requirements should be taken into consideration.
-
Upgraded Ductwork Vs. Ductless- If there is a current duct system in your old home, then it won’t be fit for a modern AC installation in El Paso. Either upgrading your ductwork or going with a ductless mini-split system are your best options.
-
Insulation and Sealing- Going through with a new AC installation is a convenient opportunity to improve your insulation and check for water leaks. Proper sealing and insulation are a great way to stay energy efficient.
-
Contact a Professional- Because of how delicate old homes are, it’s crucial to hire a professional to take care of the AC installation. A technician will also be able to properly assess what size unit you need.
-
Smart Thermostats- If you’re interested in becoming even more energy efficient, you can invest in a smart thermostat. This way, you can remotely control the temperature you want and optimize energy usage.
